Abstract

An exclusive survey on side and part time jobs of rock musicians in China. An ultimate answer to the question 'What do musicians do in China to make a living beside music?'

According to what lies at hand the author did a research and came to the following figures of what rock musicians may be occupied on other jobs:

  • music teacher: 80-100% (recessive, not counted)
  • unemployed: 30%
  • design: 20%
  • self employed: 15%
  • text or video editor: 15%
  • others: 15%
  • job at a lable: 5%

according to each listed field of profession the major part is an explaination of what exactly one actually does on such a job. Also a bench of musicians are introduced on the topic of their jobs and life circumstances.
