History

Formerly known as Alt Senior, renamed to Twinkle Star since May 2011.

Alt Senior in 2009
Alt Senior in 2010, with Saosin

Alt Senior was formed in April 2008 under the name Alt Sr. by Zhangshuai and Mengmeng and names as their influences Razorlight, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Taking Back Sunday, SRV Kasabian and The Killers. After three months struggling of finding permanent members, the band's solid line up is featuring YuHaitao (Vocals), ZhangShuang(Guitar),ZhaoMeng(Bass),and MengMeng(Drums). Musically, Alt Senior blends elements of Emo, Brit pop and rock.

Alt Senior was formed by Zhang Shuai (Guitar) and Meng Meng (Drums) in May 2008. At the end of 2007, Zhang Shuai was still playing guitar for The K. But as soon as he realized that he could form a band that played his favorite style of music, he quickly came to an agreement with the drummer Meng Meng. Since he liked a very specific kind of music, he was very particular about what kind of lead singer he could have, and that made it very difficult to find a lead singer. Eventually a friend introduced him to Hai Tao, a singer from Xi’An who was formerly the lead singer in the Xi’An emo band No Parking. At that time he was trying to reorganize the band, when a few people put a film together. Then he invited the leader of the band Hot Air Balloon (热气球), Bei Si Zhao to help realize his dreams. So far the group line up is complete, and there are making a completely new set list.

The British London music has quietly entered China’s young rock and roll fans. Besides, in recent years, China’s mainland has produced some cutting edge groups, most of which are independent of the London style. From their style to their vocals, from their arrangements to their sound, even their techniques all have the flavor of the Union Jack. Alt Senior is not an exception in this category. The only difference is that it has the British style of indie rock clashing with the American style of Emo Punk. The songs blend the fashionable parts of British garage and the distinctive elegance of the melodies in American emo rock and it simply takes from the three big styles to assume the current form. The highlights of Alt Senior include the different composing styles, melancholy tunes, and graceful rhythms. At the same time that it has a young vitality, the whole music is not one level, probably because their integration is spectacularly brilliant, which makes people particularly enjoy the music.
