History

The band Zhou Yi (周易 is the ancient guy in Zhou Dynasty, founder of "I Ching", Book of Changes) was the former band of Confucius Says. There were formed in 1993 in Beijing, with the aim to combine modern rock music with ancient Chinese heretage "I Ching". The line up back then included Vocalist and Bass player Qiu Ye 秋野, Vocalist and Keyboarder Wu Shude 吴树德, Guitar player Gao Shengchun 高胜春 and Drummer Pan Bo 潘波. Interesting though that Vocalist Wu Shude also appeared in the line up of old thrash band 皇冠 on the rock compilation "Rock'94" (摇滚94, tape, January 1994, 中国音乐家出版社)!

Just on year later in 1994, front man Qiu Ye found the band Zi Yue. This was one of the most innovative bands Chinese rock had to offer for they found a very interesting way to mix traditional Beijing folk performing styles in a jazzy/rock approach. Their first album came out in April 1997, entitled 第一册.

In the February 2010 issue of TimeOut Beijing, Shen Lihui named them as one of the top acts in 2010.[1] On May 1st, they performed at the Strawberry Music Festival 2010. According to Beijing Gig Guide: I saw bits of Confucius Says, which rocked (I was surprised)[2]
