History

Among the vanguard of China's second generation of bands, Hades which formed in 1993, is one of the first doom death metal bands. They recorded a not-for-sale demo in 1999 and disbanded later. But most of their songs can be found in several official compilations released in China.

Few years later, Mort Productions leader Cheng Xi and Hades-founder Zhou Hongfei found each other and reformed the band out of ashes.

Mort Productions released as well a CD of Hades, as well as they featured Hades on their compilation Resurrection of the Gods.

In 2007, a drummer from Germany Bastian joint the band, but he didn't take part of the recording sessions for the 2nd album which was finished before he joined in. This new album is mixed and mastered in Germany and will be released at the fall of 2007. Meanwhile Bastian took part of a new recording session for the following EP.

Band leader decided to change their English name to NARAKAM, a Tibetan word for the term HADES or ABYSS.

On April 19th, 2008, they performed at the Nameless Highland. According to Todd DePalma: (...) the band’s live set easily pushes the crowd over the edge – the powerhouse title-track off the new album causing everyone on the floor to again link arms to form a reinforced wall of furious head-bangers. Kids are now clawing at vocalist Tian Kui as he beckons them to join in the song’s spectral chorus line, as if he had a choice. The whole room is now crooning together with hair flying and hands throwing horns toward the stage.^[1]

在北京，曾经有这样一支地下乐团，1993年成立，在2000年一度解散，几经波折，成为中国地下金属的不朽的传奇。它就是上个世纪北京金属军团的领袖 ——冥界。在成立至今的时间里，只有一张专集。其作品曾散落于几张良莠不齐的拼盘合集中。在新崛起的一代乐迷眼中，冥界只是个模糊的印象，而在二十岁以上历经中国地下重型音乐发展的人们心中，那却是一个不能忘怀且被屡屡提及的名字。

1993年，就读于中央美术学院的王强，与周鸿飞、刘威，出于对重金属音乐的热爱，决定以Thrash Metal为风格作为乐团的标志，建立名为"死亡钟"的重金属乐队，并与同时期成立的战斧、皇冠、铁风筝等以重金属为风格的乐团一起活跃于地下舞台。 1994年，乐团正式改名为“冥界”并录制了第一首单曲，其后经过数度成员更迭，最后吸收了鼓手陆勋以及年轻的主音吉它手扈晶波，终于确立了一个相对短暂的稳定阵容。

从1994年到1998年间，乐团音乐风格的转变，由最初的受METALLICA、ANTHRAX、SLAYER等THRASH/SPEED METAL乐团影响，发展为在DEATH METAL中寻找新音乐的力量与激情。在吸取了MORBID ANGEL、NAPALM DEATH等早期死亡金属乐团音乐表现方式上的特点后，乐团游离了重金属音乐的发展领域，在速度和力量上步入了更加极端的旅程，并且朝着以金属音乐为载体，创作有中国民族特色的摇滚音乐的目标而努力。

在这个背景下，乐队创作出《噩梦在继续》这样的中国重金属名作。作为这一时期的代表作品，《噩梦在继续》被金属乐迷们永久地传唱——京剧采样的前奏，以及民族乐器“笙”的使用，营造出了一种异域中神秘诡异的气氛，在强大的力量旋涡中，独具自身特色的音乐风格在东西方音乐文化碰撞中汇集而成。

1997年后，乐队再次遭受了频繁的人员变动，而且因为世界重金属氛围的变化和北京地下音乐圈在九十年代后期对于重金属音乐的排斥与压迫，冥界乐队将精力放到了创作上，并在当时的鼓手王勇参加工作和乐团创立者之一的王强要去德国深造绘画前夕将乐队前期作品集结准备出版，但遗憾的是，母带在几年后不幸丢失。而冥界的名字似乎也要随着时间的流逝而湮没在人们的记忆中了。

2000年，冥界乐队正式宣告解散。“金属音乐的目标就是愤怒一切、毁灭自己！”——也许冥界的解散印证了他们的预言，但热爱这种音乐风格的我们坚信，那深处地下的暗火终有燎原之时！

新世纪后，金属音乐重新回到了世界的舞台中心，作为冥界乐队多年的好友Mort Productions（号角唱片）在与冥界乐团元老周鸿飞接触后，为了纪念这支深深影响中国地下金属发展的乐团，决定将他们早期的经典作品集结发表。 2002年1月，《重型音乐》杂志刊登了大受好评的冥界乐队专题访谈。之后，冥界乐队酝酿着以二代目阵容降临的复活计划。周鸿飞找来了多年的好友陈曦，两个吉他手组成了乐队的核心。在极大的热情投入中开始了新的歌曲创作、排练和演出的筹划。

2002年5月18号，在北京豪运酒吧举办的《冥界》专辑首发式上，吉他手周鸿飞与新的乐队成员——主唱：田奎（来自内部腐烂）吉他手：陈曦（来自铁风筝/内部腐烂）贝司手：勾践（来自杀戮）鼓手：陈小鸥（来自杀戮）组成的冥界乐队二代目阵容首次在京城金属乐迷面前展示了自己的风采。在久违了的冥界乐曲声中，到场的800多名观众无不为之激动欣喜，一个崭新的冥界奉献给他们的是更为成熟的音乐与更具震撼力的现场。

从此时开始，冥界乐队以二代目阵容展开了大规模的演出活动，并进行了积极的创作。直至2003年底，冥界乐队的名字一时间成为了国内金属界重量级的角色，占据着金属界里各个重要的演出活动。冥界乐队不仅是复活，更激活了金属迷们的激情！

及至2006年，又经历了数次人员变更后的冥界乐队，不仅人员确定，几年来的沉淀与创作，以及筹备中的全新专辑《瞬间燃烧》也在万众瞩目中进行后期制作，即将出版。
