KwanYin Records is a sub-label of Subjam Records and was founded by Yan Jun and his friends FM3 and Wu Quan in late 2004.

kwanyin = guan yin = name of the most popular buddha in Asia. In another meaning, guan = observe, view; yin = sound, information.

"In the year 2004, Chinese new music scene was developing very fast. the term "new music" was used in rock, jazz, electronic, experimental and anything sounds whatever new. but then it trended to clear. indie, experimental and electronic was splited to separate field. sound art rising faster and improvisors appeared."

"therefore we started this new label exclusively dedicate to abstract, spiritual, experimental music and sound art, and of course to all kind of improv... based on this Chinese-traditional philosophy of sound-ecology, on the attitude of experience and creating"
