History

NewTank was first created by Baiyu in his school time overseas together with Midi School graduate Zhong Yi. Their style is Emo/Post-Hardcore-based. Every summer they would record a number of independent works. At the end of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the band spent a week in Guangzhou and recorded their first songs on their own. After bass player Zuo Teng and drummer Lin Dongjie joint in, the band was officially established in June 2008. But followed by the rest of the year, band co-founder Zhong Yi wend abroad to study in Japan. Then the band kept on with a new rhythm guitarist Yang Lei Xu. October 2009 NewTank finally got on the right track and participated on Levi's fledgling National Band Competition. They gained the best position at the fourth heat and made it to compete on the national quarterfinals. After the competition the band rehearsing new songs and took a long break until the beginning of 2010. The result was their first EP "Time" in April 2010. While struggling with minor line-up changes they signed to Big Mic Records at spring time in 2011 and release their 2nd output in September. Within the following two months they wend onto their first whole China tour.

In 2012 they played on Island Stage of 2012 Summer Sonic, Asia's largest music festival plus a 5 piece Japan Tour together with label mates Multi-Ego[1]
